Abstract:
TiB
2P/Al composites with different volume fractions were fabricated by squeeze casting, the ambient mechanical properties of the composites were studied by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), hardness measurement, tensile testing, etc, and the effects of volume fraction and heat treatment on the mechanical properties of the composites were systematically studied. The results show that the Brinell hardness, bending strength and elastic modulus of the TiB
2P/Al composites increase with the increasing of the volume fraction of TiB
2. The hardness and bending strength of T6-45vol% TiB
2P/Al composite increase by 23% and 40% compared with the compo-site in the anneal state, but the effect of heat treatment on the elastic modulus is not obvious.
