Abstract:
Based on single-side strap joint configuration theory, an analytical model of cracked flat plate repaired by single-sided patch considering the influence of additional bending moment was established. Through the analytical model, the maximum stress and minimum stress in base plate were calculated, which were compared with the FE results. The effect of patch length, patch width, patch thickness and adhesive elastic modulus on the
J-internal values around the crack tips were analyzed, and the analytical equation for
J-internal was obtained by fitting the magnitude relation between the stress in base plate and
J-internal, the validity of which predicting the
J-internal in cracked curved plate repaired by single-sided patch was also proved. The analysis shows that the model can be applied to flat or curved plates subjected to in-plane loadings or out-of-plane bending loadings.
